SALISBURY — Be a little bit too stubborn, and you could end up being arrested.
Salisbury Police Officer J.C. Easler stopped a vehicle about 10 a.m. Wednesday for having an expired registration. The traffic stop occurred in the parking lot of the Kangaroo store at 2270 Statesville Blvd.
Easler asked the driver, Alexander Thomas Palmore, 30, of the 400 block of Gates Street, Salisbury, for his driver’s license and registration.
Reports said Palmore told the officer his vehicle had passed inspection, but there had been some trouble with the insurance — a reason for the expired registration.
Easler learned the car was not insured, and he informed Palmore he would have to take his registration plate, with Palmore lodging his objections.
The officer eventually asked Palmore, who had reached for his cellphone, to get out of the car, but the driver refused, grabbing hold of his steering wheel.
Easler opened the vehicle’s door and drew his Taser, threatening to shock Palmore if he did not cooperate, which he then did. Palmore was placed in handcuffs, searched for weapons and placed in the back of Easler’s patrol car.
After processing at the Police Department, Palmore went before a magistrate, who put his bond at $1,000 under a charge of resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer.
A court date has been set for Aug. 29.
