Not old enough to vote responsibly?
If three teen-age brothers want $50,000 cash to throw a wild keg party, can they “out-vote” their parents and force them to take out a second mortgage?
I thought about this as I read last Friday’s editorial, “Other Voices: Pre-register teens to vote.” Democrats need teen-age voters, obviously; that’s why liberals always push children to “get out and vote.” Most children have never had mortgage payments, extra mouths to feed, or watched their paycheck taxed away each week so others can “share” it.
It’s nothing new. Just before the Nazis were “voted” into power in Austria, Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg tried to save his country from Hitler. He suggested raising the minimum voting age to 24 (Austria’s pro-Nazi fervor was strongest in young people), but he failed. Left-wing educators and students demanded change, in the form of left-wing extremist socialism, and they won.
But wait. Our schools teach that Nazism is right-wing, not left-wing. Yes, but only because liberals want it to be true.
It’s no accident that our students lag far (very far) behind the rest of the world; being “dumbed-down” gives a better than 50-50 chance for Democrat votes.
Just as most adults know that global warming is politics, not science, they know that animals aren’t generally homosexual. But liberals want same-sex marriage to equal traditional marriage; so again science is being “revised” to claim that animals are naturally homosexual; whether it’s birds preening each other, giraffes massaging each other’s necks, or dogs proving which is dominant.
“Ignorance is bliss” is an old saying from a very old Thomas Gray poem. Written in the 1700s, its final words ring true today; perfectly summing up our Department of Education: “Thought would destroy their paradise no more; [because] where ignorance is bliss, ‘tis folly to be wise.”

Here’s a way to save
I am so glad I live in the county and not Salisbury.
Going into Food Lion, I saw two Salisbury fire trucks parked outside the store. No, there wasn’t a fire; I believe the firemen were shopping. My complaint — and I really don’t have a horse in this — but why take the trucks to the store and leave them running? Salisbury money at waste — excuse me, I meant to say “at work!”
Now I know someone is going to say fire inspections are being done, but look around; you will see trucks here, there and all over the city. I would think you would want to conserve all the diesel you could at the price it is.
I do appreciate all firefighters and the job they do each day, both city and county. Maybe if fuel was saved, they could give you a well deserved raise for your service.
