Greenway 5K is Saturday, July 19

Salisbury Parks and Recreation has set the 17th annual Run for the Greenway 5K for Saturday morning, July 19.
Proceeds support the expenses of the Salisbury Greenway project. Start time for the 5K is 8 a.m., with a half mile fun run on the track following at about 8:50 a.m. Both races start at Knox Middle School. Walkers are encouraged to participate in the 5K.
Awards will be given to the top three finishers overall and top three in each of 13 age groups. The top three overall, age 12 and under, in the fun run will also receive awards. All other finishers in the fun run will receive a medal. All 5K participants will receive a dri-fit shirt and those pre-registered in the fun run will also receive a shirt. Everyone receives a goody bag and a chance at door prizes.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to bring used running shoes and canned goods for Rowan Helping Ministries. Refreshments will be provided for everyone after the completion of both events.
“We are known for a fast course and lots of food and fun afterwards,” race director Steve Clark said. The race starts early and all activities will be complete before 10 a.m.”
