Our inclusive county commission
It’s good to know we have such vociferous, positive voices on the county commission regarding diversity and the racial, discriminatory statements made by Mr. Butner. Mr. Pierce evidently leads the way with his strong, heartfelt statement: “We do not agree with the statements, and we want the public to know we in no way, shape or form condone those statements.”
And they went so far as to take the extraordinary step to launch an internal investigation, compared to the more egregious “copy scandal” of Mr. Barber where they required censure and a state investigation; or, the commission’s stalwart support of the Rowan Human Relations Council — well, before they defunded it; or, Mr. Pierce’s recent innuendo regarding women and how they should stay at home talking with their husbands. Then, of course, there is that pesky problem of buying an old, dilapidated mall for more than the asking price, taking it off the tax rolls, untold maintenance costs, without public input, etc. The business acumen of the current commission is astounding! Interesting how views change approaching an election year.
But, not to worry, as Mr. Edds has an economic plan for Rowan and it has begun with that great economic engine for the county — the airport — by adding 10 hangars and an administration building on the citizens’ dime. The “common folk” of the county visit the airport in droves to witness all the marvelous, family activities put on at this facility for benefit of the general public!
Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall at the next Tea Party meeting when Pierce/Edds try to equivocate their former staunch positions with their newly found inclusivity positions to their membership?
