Supreme Court Justice Robin Hudson will be the guest speaker at the Rowan County Senior Democrats meeting Tuesday, July 15 at 1 p.m. in the Hurley Room of the Rowan Library, 201 W. Fisher St. in Salisbury.
Hudson won a hotly contested non-partisan primary in May, even though she was the target of campaign ads misrepresenting an opinion she gave. In November she will face Eric Levinson in a bid for re-election to a second six year term on the North Carolina State Supreme Court.
Her legal career spans 37 years, 24 in private practice on behalf of regular people, six years as an appellate judge, and six years on the Supreme Court.
She has been endorsed by numerous groups including the Charlotte Observer, the Winston-Salem Journal, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, North Carolina Association of Educators, N.C. Association of Women Lawyers, N.C. Police Benevolent Association and many others.
