Concord man critical after shooting

CONCORD — A man has been arrested in the shooting of a neighbor in Concord. The victim is in critical condition.
On June 19, around 8 p.m., Cabarrus County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Birdie Way Court to a report of a man being shot. Upon arriving, deputies spoke with Larry Wayne Knight, 54, of the home. Knight had been shot twice in the chest. Knight told deputies he was shot by William Brian Lomax, 40, also of Birdie Way Court.
Deputies arrested Lomax at his home without incident. Knight was taken to CMC-NorthEast and then transferred to CMC main where he is in critical condition.
Lomax was taken to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Lomax is in the Cabarrus County Jail under $400,000 bond. The altercation is believed to be domestic, but the investigation is ongoing.
