Bottleneck on N.C. 150 needs engineer’s attention
I live out N.C. 150, Mooresville Road, and I’d like to know if there are any plans to do something about the bottleneck where Jake Alexander Boulevard and N.C. 150 meet in front of Food Lion.
We try to shop in Salisbury stores, such as Lowe’s and Walmart, etc., but trying to get home is so bad I can almost go to Concord as fast.
The traffic is backed up all the way to Bank of North Carolina many times. The turning lane is too short to handle all the cars. The rear end of my car is in the straight lane and the cars are going over the hill at a high rate of speed.
We have to sit through three red light changes before we can turn left onto 150.
Before they closed the train crossing near Johnson’s Concrete, we could go that way, but now there is not another way to get home.
They are building more apartments behind Bank of North Carolina, which is going to add to the problem.
We need an engineer to come up with a solution to this problem.

Tillis no profile in courage
For weeks now I have watched the Thom Tillis for Senate campaign speak to me like I was an idiot. Repeal and replace Obamacare is the new cornerstone of the campaign. But it ends there. Replace it with what? This state had over 200,000 uninsured citizens sign up for health care under Obamacare. We were one of a handful of states that surpassed its goal. What happens to them if you repeal the law?
Tens of thousands of North Carolinians were previously uninsurable because of their medical history. Now they are covered. What happens to them, Thom, if you repeal?
Tens of thousands of women in this state could not afford preventative treatments like mammograms, but now thanks to Obamacare those treatments are available and affordable. What happens to them if the Law is repealed?
Families can cover children up to the age of 26 under Obamacare. This benefit provided health care to thousands of young adults. What about them, Thom?
As House speaker in the Republican-controlled state legislature, Mr. Tillis refused to expand Medicaid in this state and thereby denied tens of thousands more citizens to sign up for health care. What do you have to say to them, Thom? You don’t have the courage to tell the truth. Your refusal to expand Medicaid was simply a political decision to derail Obamacare. That failed, but thousands of North Carolina citizens were needlessly harmed.
Probably the most dishonest claim is your revised position to replace Obamacare. Not that long ago your position was to simply repeal the law. Thom, I am not an idiot. If you repeal Obamacare, it will never be replaced. The insurance industries win and we all lose.
