Crews start moving furniture into new homeless shelter

SALISBURY — It’s move-in day at Rowan Helping Ministries.
Actually, it’s more like move-in week, which is about how long it will take to move, assemble and install all the furniture at the new 20,000-square-foot homeless shelter on North Long Street.
Crews from Contemporary Galleries, which has a warehouse in Salisbury, descended on the facility today to start the process. Workers with Matthews Construction in Charlotte and various subcontractors continue final details, including paving the parking lot with pervious pavers that will help decrease stormwater runoff.
