There is an increased fire danger all day Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Gusty north to northwest winds will develop across the region overnight and continue into the day Wednesday. In addition relative humidity values are forecast to fall into the lower to middle 20s. The combination of gusty win and low humidity will increase the threat of rapidly spreading wildfires Wednesday.
Please refer to the local burn permitting authorities about whether burning will be permitted Wednesday. Individuals may obtain burning permits in one of several ways in Rowan County: If you are within a municipality, please check with your local city/town office for local permitting as may be required for your town or city. If you are outside a municipality, you may obtain a burning permit online at http://ncforestservice.gov/burn_permits/burn_permits_main.htm or at one of the authorized permit agent locations listed here: https://www.rowancountync.gov/GOVERNMENT/Departments/EmergencyServices/FireDivision/Forestry/BurningPermit.aspx
If you do burn, you are advised to use extreme caution. Residents are urged not to handle any source of ignition, especially smoking materials, on Wednesday.
