CONCORD — The transition to middle school can be a difficult one.
Michelle Icard knows this from personal experience and is now a passionate speaker, author of “Middle School Makeover” and founder of Athena’s Path and Hero’s Pursuit social leadership programs.
Athena’s Path and Hero’s Pursuit camps, offered for girls or boys ages 10-12, respectively, are led by trained staff and use games, activities and lively discussion to teach girls and boys the tools they need to navigate the middle school social scene and to be leaders in their own lives.
“It is so important that we help young teens navigate the challenging middle school years,” says Icard. “This transition time often sets a teen up for failure or success down the road. Our goal is to give all of our participants the tools they need to succeed not only in middle school but beyond that as well.”
“We are thrilled to be working with Michelle for the first time,” says Marcia Brashear, director of enrichment programs at Cannon School. “Her camps will give area students a better chance of success in the challenging middle school years.”

Campers will have fun within the safe learning environment of the school’s 65-acre campus, which includes two gymnasiums, a dance studio, multiple athletic fields, six tennis courts and wooded wetlands.
