Roger Austin Mills and Ginny Carson Mills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 3, 2014. They were married April 3, 1964, in her hometown of Reno, Nev., with the Rev. E.A. Wessel officiating their ceremony at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Roger is still active in the ministry after retiring from teaching, coaching and two college professorships. He also works with Ralph Baker’s Pedorthic Shoe Facility as a field representative. Ginny retired from the Food Lion office in 1995 and is enjoying her time as grandmother.
Roger and Ginny have been blessed with three children: John Wayne Mills (Tammany) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Russell Jay Mills (Leah) of Concord and Joy Mills Haynes (Scott) of Raleigh. They have six “favorite” grandchildren: Abigail, Steffi, Meredith, Austin, Caroline and Elizabeth.
The couple is celebrating with a trip to Washington, D.C., and enjoying all the wonderful history of our great country and its Christian heritage. The trip and tour were arranged as a gift from the children.
