Drivers: Look out for pedestrians
Dear black SUV with the tinted windows,
Thank you so very much for the fine wake-up this morning I had around 4:45 a.m. after successfully crossing Woodleaf Road at Roxanne’s.
Perhaps you did not see me well since I have lost 100 pounds in 10 months, or notice the light gray you clearly saw to speed up towards. It is entirely possible you gunned your engine and swerved into me crossing the white line I was well on the other side of with my back toward you.
I will give you credit for failing to do what another careless driver did near that intersection to the horror of a community who will never forget the loss, ending a life. Thank you for merely grazing my elbow and backpack. I cannot thank you enough.
P.S.: Please learn to drive the speed limit and look out for pedestrians. We are neither human trash nor flotsam and jetsam in the sea of tears empty-minded fools like you clearly empty into through your blind actions.

Bad real estate deal will be costly
In February 2012, a firm out of New York paid $2.5 million for the Salisbury Mall. At the time both JCPenney and Belk were tenants. They also got a movie theater that was in operation and the Bojangles’ restaurant.
Then in 2013, the Rowan County commissioners paid $3.45 million for the property after both Belk and JCPenney moved out, and the theater had closed down. Bojangles’ was not in with the deal.
I mean, seriously Mr. Sides, you thought this was a good deal? You and anyone associated with you will not be elected. Don’t be surprised at the primary results in May.
