Alex Edwards named 2014 S.C. Banjo Champion

Alex Edwards of Rowan County won the title of South Carolina’s 2014 Banjo Champion this past weekend at RenoFest in Hartsville.

In addition to becoming state champion, Edwards won a Yates banjo.


Ronnie Reno, host of RFD-TV’s “Ronnie Reno’s Old Time Music” television show, presented Alex with the banjo after naming him as champion.

Alex plays with The Edwards Family, well-known in local gospel bluegrass circles.
