The Rowan Museum needs volunteers to act as docents, giving tours at its two house museums, the 1766 Old Stone House in Granite Quarry and the 1815 Utzman-Chambers House in Salisbury.

The Old Stone House, 770 Old Stone House Road, Granite Quarry, is open 1 p.m.4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays April through November.

The Utzman-Chambers House, 116 S. Jackson Street, Salisbury, is open 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays April through November.

The museum provides training on the history of the houses, the families who lived in them, and the collections they contain.

Docents are also expected to open and close the houses. For more information, call the Rowan Museum at 704-633-5946 or email rowanmuseum@fibrant.com .
