DURHAM (AP) — An investigation of photos of nude students appearing on the Internet without their permission is expanding beyond the Raleigh area.

Two girls have contacted the Durham County Sheriff’s Office to report someone had posted nude photos of them on the social networking site Instagram.

Earlier this week, Wake Forest police says the mother of a teen reported someone had posted nude photos of her daughter on Twitter and Instagram. Police said they had potentially identified “numerous victims” who are students at Wake County high schools.

The latest reports involved a 14-year-old student at Githens Middle School in Durham and a 17-year-old high school student.

Durham sheriff’s spokesman Paul Sherwin said the agency expects more reports as students and parents become aware of the problem.
