West Rowan grad Isaiah Cuthbertson had a career game against Catawba on Saturday and led Mars Hill to a 64-54 SAC victory against the visiting Indians.

Cuthbertson had 26 points and 24 rebounds. His 11 offensive rebounds matched Catwaba’s team total.

Devonte Williams scored 14 for the Lions (3-12, 1-9), who outrebounded the Indians 56-42.

Vismantas Marijosius (North Hills) led Catawba with 13 points. Tyrece Little scored 12.

Catawba (4-10, 4-6) led early in the second half after a dunk by Little and a 3-pointer by Nick Houston (Carson) but couldn’t hold on.

Catawba shot 32.3 percent.

Mars HIll won despite shooting 1-for-17 on 3-pointers.

Catawba women

Chloe Bully surpassed 1,000 career points, but Catawba lost a late lead and fell 78-76 at Mars Hill on Saturday afternoon.

Bully scored 20 points to lead the Indians (8-6, 6-4) in the SAC contest and added seven rebounds and five assists. Antionette McPhail scored 16 points.

Ansley Ricker led the Lions (3-11, 2-8) with 19 points. Brittany Baker had 17.

Catawba led most of the game but couldn’t overcome 26 turnovers and a five-minute scoring drought. The Indians led by eight with 7:23 left but couldn’t hold on. McPhail missed a rushed 3-pointer at the horn.

Mars Hill shot 52.6 percent. Forner Central Davidson standout Paige Chavis had 10 points and seven assists for the Lions.

Catawba plays at home Wednesday against Wingate at 6 p.m.

Livingstone women

Livingstone’s women fell 96-71 to Shaw in CIAA action at New Trent Gym on Saturday.

Tiffany Evans led the Blue Bears (9-8, 4-3) with 16 points. Ashley Walker (14), Sophie Lepzem (12) and Cierra York (11) also scored in double figures.

Diamond Mitchell scored 28 for Shaw (11-6, 5-2) and Verdine Warner had 23.

Shaw outrebounded LC 54-35.

Rockwell Christian

Nathan Hoehman poured in 24 points and Titus Cruse added 14 as Rockwell Chistian’s varsity boys defeated Bible Baptist of Matthews 60-38.

The Chargers are 3-3 in district play.

• Rockwell Christian lost to Monroe Tabernacle 59-54. Hoehman had 25 points, while Tyler Eagle scored 10.

• Rockwell Christian’s jayvee boys beat Bible Baptist 40-37.

Austin Teodorvici led the way with 19 points, while Micheal Hoehman had nine.

The jayvees won 40-12 at Fayettville Street of Asheboro. Teodorvici netted 23 for the Chargers.

Rockwell Christian plays Tuesday at home against Shining Light of Monroe. Start time is 5 p.m.

Prep indoor track

Carson’s boys finished sixth out of 26 teams at Saturday’s JDL Indoor Track Meet.

Andrew Hower won the high jump with a school record effort of 6 feet, 4 inches.

Zachary Marchinko was second in the 3200 in 10:04.61 and helped the 4x800 team place fifth. Other members of the 4x800 team were Danyal Sherer, Nick Cox and Garrett Ingold.

• North Rowan’s Payton Russell was fifth in the girls 300 in 43.79 seconds.

North’s Shane Parker was second in the shot put (47 feet, 11 1/2 inches), while Kasaun Coney took fourth in the triple jump (40-7 1/2). North’s boys finished 11th.

Russell and Parker met state qualfiying standards.

Prep wrestling

East Rowan’s wrestlers won the team championship in a tournament at Monroe High on Saturday.

East (17-2) went 5-0, defeating Union Academy 78-6, Cuthbertson 51-19, Monroe 51-30, Weddington 54-25 and West Stanly 46-27.

Jeff Burrell, Logan Haas, Max Wall, Shiheem Saunders and Cody Hiatt went 5-0 for the Mustangs.

Sam Cornacchione, Grant Hoffner and Austin Hoosier went 4-1. Landon Carico, Luke Miller, Wyatt Blume and Jake Boltz were 3-2. Dustin Humphrey was 2-3.

Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team lost 67-57 to Erskine on Saturday at Merner Gym.

Erskine’s Roderick Perkins came in averaging 27.3 points to lead Division II but was held to 15 points.

Jake Haslam scored 18 for the Flying Fleet in the Conference Carolinas contest.

Mike Smith scored 15 for Pfeiffer (4-12, 1-6). David McNair had 14 rebounds.

• Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball team lost 80-78 to Erskine on Saturday at Merner Gym.

Raygon Hendrix scored 25 for Erskine.

Ariana Tillman scored 17 for the Falcons (2-13, 1-6).
