The winners of the Postís first holiday card contest took plain pieces of paper and transformed them into cards that can be proudly be tacked to the family fridge.

Students from across Rowan County cracked out crayons, markers, pencils, paint, glue, glitter, ribbon and pipe cleaners to make cards that began showing up at my desk several weeks ago. My desk has never looked quite so festive.

A gallery of all the entries is on the Postís website.

Picking the winners was tougher than expected. It took a while to mull the cards over and decide on the victors. The ones you see here were chosen because of their creativity, they arenít something youíd find at a greeting card store.
