SALISBURY — Ready for more retail?

Developers are advertising retail space for lease in the Summit Corporate Center at Julian Road and Interstate 85.

Hutton Growth One, based in Chattanooga, has 54 acres of county-owned land in Summit under option. Charlotte-based Providence Group is handling marketing and leasing and has posted a proposed site plan on the company’s website showing seven stores in phase one.

No word yet on which retailers the developers are talking to or whether they have signed any leases.

Neither group would comment on the development, and Rowan County still owns the land.

The largest store shown on the proposed site plan is 55,000 square feet, likely too small for a Target, which usually occupies about 100,000 square feet. A vacant 15-acre tract makes up phase two on the drawing.

Hutton recently opened the new Belk and Wallace Commons expansion near Summit.
