Mr. Terry L. and The Rev. Susan M. Bame of China Grove are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Susan Bame, to Brian Andrew Messenger of Kannapolis.

Laura is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. McDaniel, Jr. of Kannapolis, Mrs. Janette Bame of Concord and the late Harry Bame. A 2005 graduate of East Rowan High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Catawba College in 2010. Laura is a music teacher for Rowan-Salisbury School System.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Messenger of Kannapolis, Brian is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Earnhardt of Kannapolis, Mrs. Joan Messenger of Kannapolis and the late Herbert Messenger. A 2002 graduate of A.L. Brown High School, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business from Catawba College in 2006 and a Master in Instrumental Conducting from Winthrop University in 2012. Brian is the founder and director of a non-profit organization in China Grove.

The couple will marry Dec. 21 in a 5 p.m. ceremony at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in China Grove.
