Members of the Salisbury Police Department lost Sgt. Mark Hunter during the spring, but they haven’t forgotten his contributions over a 20-year career.

Saturday’s Sniggle Snaggle 5K raised funds for the “Sgt. Mark ‘Big Train’ Hunter” Scholarship Fund.

Hunter’s wife, Joyce, was the official starter and then competed in the race.

Other family members joined her to honor the memory of Hunter.

Garrett Ingold finished first in 17 minutes and 44 seconds. Melissa Orr was the top woman in 20 minutes and 53 seconds.

Anthony Nero was second in 18:21 and Chance Brown third in 18:37.

Orr finished ahead of Dr. Acquawon Stallworth in 23:20 and Martha Motley in 24:22.

Jonas Motley won the Fun Run in a time of 3 minutes and 19 seconds.

Primary sponsors were Walmart, Davis and Davis Attorneys at Law, Salisbury Rowan FOP Lodge No. 87 and the Salisbury Rowan Crimestoppers. Race directors were John Lanier and Patrick Smith.
