Hospital, agencies to host Obamacare enrollment session Thursday at Civic Center
SALISBURY – Don’t forget, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center will host an Obamacare information and enrollment session from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Center, 315 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
The event will include details about health insurance options offered through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. People will be able to sign up for insurance plans through the marketplace at the event.
The event is a forum designed to educate community members about the health insurance marketplace and help people apply for coverage. Similar events have already occurred with success at several other Novant Health locations in other cities.
A collaboration between Novant Health, Rowan County Health Department, Department of Social Services and local insurance brokers, the event will help ensure that residents get the insurance coverage they need and deserve, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The event will feature speakers at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and participants will be able to sign up for health insurance plans as needed. Anyone who is uninsured, pays for their own insurance or is not qualified for Medicare and Medicaid is invited to attend and register for a specialized insurance plan.
Plans offered through the marketplace will provide coverage for the following:
• Doctor’s visits
• Hospital care
• Maternity care
• Emergency Room care
No one can be excluded from buying insurance due to a pre-existing condition.
People who plan to apply for an insurance plan should bring the following items on Thursday:
• Social Security numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants)
• Birth dates
• Pay stubs, W-2 forms or wage and tax statements
• Policy numbers for any current health insurance
• Information about any health insurance you or your family could get from your jobs
While walk-ins are welcome, pre-registration is encouraged. Free health screenings including blood pressure checks and cholesterol checks will be available.
