Authorities say a woman injured in an assault that left her father dead is improving but still hospitalized.
Sandra Steen “will continue to endure a long recovery process,” the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said in a news realize.
J.D. Furr, 87, was found dead outside his River Road home by his grandson, Jeff Steen, the morning of Nov. 6. Jeff Steen found his mother and Furr’s daughter, 62-year-old Sandra Steen, lying in the driveway.
Both had been beaten in what authorities call an apparent robbery at their secluded eastern Rowan County home.
Investigators have been able to speak with Sandra Steen several times, the news release said.
