• 3 p.m. today: marker dedication commemorating Female Raid of 1863 (the Bread Riot), 20th marker in the Salisbury History and Art Trail, at FUMC entrance, 100 block of W. Fisher St., includes brief presentation by reenactors in full period costume. Public is invited to dedication and reception afterward.

• Fall Barbecue Saturday Nov. 2, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Liberty UMC, Stokes Ferry and Liberty Roads. Pork, chicken available, with green beans or pintos, slaw, bread, dessert, drink. Takeouts available.

• Fall Festival at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church, Cleveland, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2-5 p.m. Fun, food, fellowship; prizes and treats for eve

Shining Stars Homecoming Dance Saturday Nov. 2, Harold B. Jarrett Post 342, Lincolnton Road, 9 p.m.-2 a.m. $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Music by deejay Flowe. BYOB.
