SPENCER — The former Park Plaza shopping center in Spencer has a new owner with plans for a restaurant, discount shop, furniture store and drug store.

Spencer Town Manager Larry Smith said Premier Partners Landis NC has closed on the Park Plaza parcels, formerly owned by Henry and Karen Alexander, who named the development Spencer Shoppes.

New owners Joe Strickland and Rick Register of China Grove intend to build a Family Dollar on a front outparcel north of Suntrust Bank and hope to put a restaurant and possibly a furniture store inside the existing center, Smith said.

They also hope to bring a drug store to the center in the near future, Smith said.
