Brown wins sixth straight
CONCORD — A.L. Brown moved to 3-0 in the 4A MECKA Conference with a 61-6 rout of J.M. Robinson Friday night. Brown won its sixth straight game, improving to 6-1 overall.
Daveon Perry set the tone by taking the opening kickoff back 99 yards for a touchdown.
Rushing-wise, R.J. Fowler led the Wonders with 14 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Damon Johnson carried the ball seven times for 76 yards with one score.
Damon Johnson scored on a five-yard touchdown run and Sandon McCoy punched it in from a yard out.
The Wonders scored the game’s first 20 points before Robinson kicked a 40-yard field goal.
Johnson handed off to Casey Walker on a reverse, who tossed it to Johnson for a 33-yard touchdown pass and Brown led 27-3 at halftime.
McCoy carried the ball six times for 23 yards and scored twice. His second touchdown came on a 13-yard romp in the third quarter.
Brown’s Maliek Patterson ran it in from three yards out to complete the scoring.
Brown quarterback Andrew Ramirez completed seven of 10 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown. Johnny Delahoussaey had three catches for 67 yards and one touchdown. Johnson caught one pass for 33 yards and one score.
Brown hosts Hough next week at it resumes conference play. The Wonders haven’t lost since a season-opening loss to Concord.
