A group organizing an anti-bullying event Oct. 24 is seeking donations of food for a planned dinner.

Friends Against Bullying is putting on the event and says money from tickets sold will go to the family of Daniel Safrit, an Erwin Middle School student who took his own life Sept. 27. His parents said he had been bullied at school.

The event will be held at Cornerstone Church, 315 Webb Road. Tickets cost $5. For information about purchasing tickets in advance, email Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation about bullying starting at 7 p.m.

Kim Brown, who is coordinating the event, said the menu will be a spaghetti dinner. Organizers are asking for donations of spaghetti, sauce, salad mix, dressing, canned drinks and silverware. Donations can be dropped off at Price Pharmacy in Granite Quarry, Creative Cuts and Tans in Rockwell, and Charley’s in Faith. The donations need to be made by Oct. 21.

The group will also pick up donations.
