RALEIGH (AP) — North Carolina will resume a federally funded program that gives food vouchers to poor pregnant women and their young children two days after announcing it would stop issuing them due to the U.S. government shutdown.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced Thursday night it had secured additional funds to continue the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children for now. DHHS said leftover money from last year and federal contingency funds made it possible.
