• Heritage Day at St. John’s Lutheran Church Concord, 9 a.m. Saturday Oct. 12, 6200 Mt. Olive Road. Restored tractors, quilting, chair caning, horse shoeing, early collectibles, oil lamps, historical stamps, more. 2 p.m. dedication of monument to slaves buried in the cemetery. Breakfast and lunch available prepared by Youth of St. John’s. 704-782-2550.

Volunteer for the BlockWork Neighborhood Improvement Project sponsored by Community Appearance Commission, to be held on National Make A Difference Day Oct. 26, 700 and 800 blocks of E. Franklin St. Contact Community Planning Office at 704-638-5242.

Sign up for seventh annual Bradley Barnhardt Memorial Golf Tournament, Saturday Nov. 2, noon-1 p.m. lunch by Gary’s BBQ, 1 p.m. shotgun start at Corbin Hills Golf Club. Proceeds benefit Relay For Life.
