CHINA GROVE — A China Grove child was injured Wednesday afternoon when he reportedly fell from his skateboard at a home on Ross Street.
Rowan Animal Control responded to what they initially believed was a child that had been bitten by the family dog, but later discovered the boy received injuries in a skateboard accident. The incident is said to have occurred around 4:30 p.m.
Animal Control Officer Thomas Staton, who did not investigate the incident but did speak with investigating Officer Dawn Hager, said the boy’s injuries were not from a dog. Hager was not available for comment Thursday.
Staton said the child, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he would be going into surgery for a fractured skull.
Rowan EMS also responded to the scene, he said. No other details were available Thursday.
