Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Unit and Special Response Team used a state search warrant Tuesday to search the home of Christopher Todd Rumple, 45, and Brandon Lee Rumple, 18, at 504 Carter St., Kannapolis.
Brandon Rumple was arrested on charges stemming from a June 29 shooting incident. In addition, his bond from a previous probation violation was revoked and additional charges are expected.
On Saturday, June 29, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of shots fired at 504 Carter St. When deputies arrived, they saw an ongoing dispute between the Rumples, of 504 Carter St., and two other individuals. During the investigation, it was determined that the two Rumples had fired a .380 handgun at one of the other people. Deputies found three spent shell casings from a .380 handgun in the front yard of the residence, and a .380 handgun with a spent shell casing in a safe inside the residence.
On Tuesday, July 2, deputies arrested Brandon Lee Rumple and charged him with possession of firearm by a felon in relation to the incident on June 29. During the search, deputies discovered evidence indicating the trafficking of heroin. Brandon Rumple was placed under a $50,000 secured bond.
Brandon Rumple has pending heroin trafficking charges in Cabarrus County Superior Court from an arrest in Cabarrus County on April 19, 2012, in which more than 200 grams of heroin was seized during a search of a residence at 3606 Mill Cove Circle, Apt. 207 in Charlotte. On Oct. 1, 2012, Brandon Rumple was charged in another incident in Rowan County, when he was arrested at the Rowan Recycling Center at 1455 Julian Road in Salisbury while working community service. In this incident, Brandon Rumple attempted to discard 6.7 grams of heroin in a Porta-Jon at the facility after deputies received a report of a drug sale involving someone matching Rumple’s description at the location. An additional 3.7 grams of methadone and $415 in cash were found in Rumple’s possession. Brandon Rumple was charged with trafficking heroin in this incident, as well, and is also pending trial in Rowan County Superior Court.
Brandon Rumple has an extensive criminal record and was convicted on Jan. 20, 2012, in Cabarrus County Superior Court of delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance.
