A Salisbury man was charged with drug possession after authorities say they discovered cocaine hidden in his crotch.
Salisbury Police charged Marcus Dwayne Washington, 32, of the 800 block of Poplar Street, with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance.
The incident occurred Thursday at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Partee and West Monroe streets. Officers recognized Washington getting behind the wheel of a vehicle there. Officers knew his license was suspended and Washington was not supposed to be driving.
Officers caught up to him and asked him to step out of the vehicle. When officers searched him they found two grams of crack cocaine hidden in his underwear. They also seized $970 from Washington.
He was issued a $15,000 secured bond. Washington has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
Washington has been convicted of driving while license revoked, open container, reckless driving, drug possession, trespassing, disorderly conduct, larceny and assault on a female.
