Authorities charged a man they say exposed himself and groped a Rowan-Cabarrus Community College student on campus Monday afternoon.
Antoine Lamont Cowan, 32, is charged with simple possession of marijuana and indecent exposure.
The victim, an 18-year-old student, said she’d seen Cowan earlier on campus, and recognized him later when he got onto an elevator with her, a Salisbury Police Department report said.
The victim said Cowan kept “staring at her chest” and asking if she had a boyfriend, the report said.
She said while on the elevator he tried to kiss her and she pushed him away. The victim also said Cowan grabbed her behind. She moved away from Cowan, but he exposed his genitals and began fondling himself, she said.
The victim found a Rowan County sheriff’s deputy, who was working security on campus, and told him about the incident. The officer located Cowan, who reportedly is also a student at the college.
Searching Cowan, the deputy found a marijuana blunt in a front pocket, and a baggie that contained marijuana, the report said. Cowan was issued a citation.
Cowan is currently on probation following an October 2012 conviction for larceny, drug possession and simple assault. He’s also been convicted of driving while license revoked, receiving a stolen vehicle, malicious conduct by prisoner, assault on a female and communicating threats.
Salisbury Police charged Cowan a week ago with misdemeanor possession of marijuana following a search of several homes by the Police Interdiction Team, the department’s narcotics unit.
