Authorities have charged a Mount Ulla woman with causing a crash Wednesday afternoon on Mooresville Road.
The crash occurred just beyond the 7500 block of Mooresville Road and was less than half a mile from an earlier crash that occurred in front of a home at 7306 Mooresville Road.
The first crash happened at 4:15 p.m., and the second occurred at 5:15 p.m.
Devon Aldridge, 27, was traveling east in her 2009 Toyota when she failed to stop behind a pickup that had stopped because of the first crash, said Trooper Sgt. E.T. Suttles of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
She was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
Aldridge, who was wearing her seatbelt, was on her cell phone when the crash occurred. She had just ended the call, looked up suddenly and struck the back of a Ford pickup also heading east.
The pickup was driven by Vickie Walser, 59, of Salisbury. Walser was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Both women had no passengers. Aldridge was not injured, but went to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center as a precaution because she was pregnant, Suttles said.
