Karissa Minn/Salisbury Post This Lippard Road home has been heavily damaged by flames, and firefighters are still battling the blaze.

A fire destroyed a home on Lippard Road near Faith this morning.

Investigators said Carl Wilson, who owns the house, had gone for a quick visit with his mother. He returned to the sight of fire trucks in front of his house and a plume of smoke rising from it.

No one was home when the fire started. His adult son, Caleb, lives with him but had already gone to work.

The fire was called shortly after 10 a.m., and the first responders on the scene found flames coming from the one-story brick home.

One firefighter suffered a knee injury while battling the blaze.

The firefighters started out in “defensive mode,” meaning they did not enter the house but were trying to contain the blaze from outside. By the time they could safely enter to put out the remaining flames, the house appeared to be destroyed.

Firefighters were still working to extinguish the fire at 11:30 a.m. today.

Investigators said the fire appeared to start in the attic and spread quickly from there. The cause was not clear by midday today.
