Kannapolis man charged with robbing convenience store

KANNAPOLIS — Kannapolis authorities charged a Kannapolis man moments after they say he robbed a Lane Street convenience store Saturday night.
Kannapolis Police charged Johnathan Bullington, 23, of the 300 block of East 26th Street, with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m.
Officers were sent to Lane Street Express Food Mart at 2013 Lane St. A clerk said a man with a knife had just robbed the store.
The suspect took money from the cash register and left, heading east, a statement said.
As officers were searching the area, they spotted a man walking on Lane Street matching the description of the robber. The man was later identified as Bullington.
Bullington was held on a $200,000 bond and placed in the Cabarrus County jail, where he remains.
