Romp in the Park event features American Idol contestant Joshua Sanders

American Idol contestant Joshua Sanders will perform today at the Red Cardinal Romp in the Park event at Granite Quarry Civic Park.

The event is at 2 p.m. and is sponsored by Wittenberg Lutheran Church. This is the second year for the event.


In lieu of admission, organizers are asking people to bring non-perishable food items to donate to Rowan Helping Ministries.

There will be a day of activities for the family including a puppet show, appearances by super heroes, and a bounce house. Also at the event will be Le Beau Family Gospel group from Lexington, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand providing fingerprinting and identification cards for children, also the Granite Quarry Fire Department will be there.

Organizers say at 7 p.m. they will show the movie, “Courageous,” complete with popcorn and ice cream.

The food items will be placed inside the Rowan Helping Ministries trailer. All who plan to attend are asked to bring their blankets and lawn chairs for the movie.
