A West Rowan High student was injured this morning in a shop class accident.

An employee in the school’s office said the student injured a finger and damaged some tendons. It’s unclear whether the finger was partially or completely severed. He was reportedly taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

Rowan-Salisbury School System Spokeswoman Rita Foil said the school called 911 and the student was taken to the hospital, but would provide no other information. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m.
