The Rowan History Club will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. The program will be the presented by Randell Jones, award winning author of “In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone” and “On the Trail of Daniel Boone. Jones is a popular history club speaker, and will speak on Daniel Boone’s Trail, the trail erected a century ago by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The trail was built between 1912 to 1915. Forty-five cast iron tablets across 400 miles of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky were erected. The idea for the trail came from Winston-Salem. Jones will speak on the 100th anniversary celebration of this trail. This presentation is funded by the Roads Scholars Speakers Bureau of the North Carolina Humanities Council.
The meeting will be held in the Messinger Room (accessible by elevator). Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, September-June. The museum is at 202 N. Main St. Guests to the program should enter through the rear entrance.
A roundtable format will allow for a 30- to 45-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer period. The Rowan History Club is open to all persons interested in the history of Rowan County. There are no dues or admission fees; refreshments are served.
