Area memorial services for Sept. 11

The following are local Sept. 11 memorials, tributes and services:

• The city of Salisbury and Rowan County emergency responders/personnel will participate in a memorial service at the Salisbury-Rowan Firefighter’s Memorial, adjacent to Chestnut Hill Cemetery, 1400 S. Main St., Salisbury. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to last until 10:15 a.m.


Area law enforcement, emergency responders and firefighters will attend and participate in the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.

• The town of Rockwell will have a brief remembrance ceremony at noon at the town gazebo, located beside the Historic Rockwell Museum, 105 E. Main St.

• The town of Landis fire and police departments will participate in a remembrance ceremony at Corriher-Lipe Middle School, 214 W. Rice St., Landis.

• Carson High School students will gather at the flag pole for a time of reflection at 7 a.m., 290 Kress Venture Drive, China Grove.
