Sex offender, woman arrested on drug charges after three-month sting

SALISBURY — After a three-month undercover investigation into the sale and distribution of crack cocaine and opioid-based pain medication, a sex offender called “Weasel” and a woman were arrested Tuesday by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Reginald Dean “Weasel” Oglesby, 37, and Marcia Clare Lewis, 32, were arrested by the Special Investigations Unit and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Unit following an undercover purchase of hydrocodone and crack cocaine near a business on Statesville Boulevard.
Throughout the undercover investigation, Oglesby and Lewis were accompanied by minor children on many occasions during drug transactions. The Sheriff’s Office is coordinating this part of the investigation with the Rowan County Department of Social Services. 
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.   
When he was arrested Tuesday, Oglesby was out on bond following a Jan. 8 arrest by the Salisbury Police Department for trafficking opium. In addition, Oglesby, a registered sex offender, was not living at his designated address. Those charges are pending. 
Oglesby has 12 felony convictions dating back to Sept. 14, 2000. The convictions include obtaining property by false pretense, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, soliciting to take indecent liberties with a child and attempting to traffic in cocaine.
Following Tuesday’s arrest, investigators executed a state search warrant at the address on Airport Road and seized a .45 handgun, additional hydrocodone tablets, money and a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. 
Oglesby is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $105,000 bond. Lewis is in jail under $30,000 bond.
