SALISBURY — KMD Construction, a local firm, will build the new Integro Technologies headquarters in downtown Salisbury.
Although Integro had originally calculated a $4 million price tag, KMD will construct the headquarters for about $3.2 million, owner Kyle Davis said.
“It will be a great addition to downtown,” David said. “Stout’s design will be well-received, and we look forward to working with Integro and in helping them to achieve their vision.”
Local architect Gray Stout is designing the 40,000-square-foot building.
The city of Salisbury will demolish the former GX Fitness Club and a parking lot that held the farmer’s market to make way for Integro, which bought the property from the city for $250,000.
The headquarters will stand in the 300 block of South Main Street at the corner of East Bank Street.
The city plans to partner with Rowan-Salisbury Schools to build an $8 million school central office at the other end of the block, now vacant after demolition and cleanup of a former service station.
The farmer’s market has moved to the former Wrenn House parking lot at the corner of Jackson and Fisher streets.
Integro is currently located on North Lee Street in a renovated warehouse.
KMD plans to start construction in June after demolition and abatement of existing buildings on the site. Phase one should be complete by Sept. 30, Davis said, and the building should be ready for occupancy by December.
KMD Construction was founded in 2001 and has about 30 full-time employees. A licensed general contractor in 10 states, the firm is building Walmarts in the Raleigh area and Georgia, as well as other projects in the Southeast.
