RALEIGH (AP) — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is suspending most of its construction projects on the state’s highways to help keep the July 4 holiday traffic flowing smoothly.
Starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, most construction projects along interstate, North Carolina and U.S. routes will be suspended until 9 a.m. Friday.
Construction work will continue on U.S. 1 just north of Southern Pines, U.S. 158 in Elizabeth City, I-73 in Guilford County and U.S. 17 Business in Jacksonville.
Motorists can get up-to-date travel information while they are travelling by calling 511 or visiting the transportation department’s website at www.ncdot.gov.
