A.L. Brown Class of ‘63 slots 50th reunion

Kannapolis’s A.L. Brown High School Class of 1963 is celebrating their 50th reunion Friday and Saturday with events and activities as follows.

• Friday — 4 p.m., school tour to see the changes made over the last 50 years. 5:30 p.m., hot dog supper and fellowship on the school grounds. 6:30 p.m., gathering at “Wonder” stadium for home football game against Sun valley. The class will sit together and be recognized at halftime.


• Saturday — 10 a.m., a second school tour for those who were unable to make the Friday tour. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., there are scheduled tee times at the Club at Irish Creek. Contact Keith Small at Boxcar371a1@aol.com to sign up (he can take request until Friday, Sept. 6). Various other Kannapolis tours are scheduled for Saturday, including NC Music Hall of Fame, Curb Motorsports, GI House, Kannapolis History Room at A.L. Brown and the new Veterans Park at the square downtown. There will be a “watering hole” at the R3 Career Office (former Swanee Theater) on West Avenue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take a break or fellowship while visiting K-town. The dinner/banquet culminating the “golden” celebration begins at 5 p.m. at the Club at Irish Creek.
