SALISBURY — No matter how you look at it, Diane Harrington and Buddy Poole’s baseball-themed wedding was full of diamonds.

You might remember that Poole, owner of the WSAT Memories 1280 radio station, proposed to Harrington during a Yankees-Red Sox baseball game at Yankee Stadium the night of May 31.

In the middle of the fifth inning of the game, Buddy’s marriage proposal was displayed on the center-field scoreboard’s giant screen, to the delight of a capacity crowd.

Harrington accepted, and it led to Saturday’s wedding at the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post in Salisbury.

Throughout Saturday’s ceremony and reception, baseball was in the air, as Poole invited past American Legion and Catawba College baseball players (and football players) to the wedding.

The couple ended the ceremony by passing under a canopy of baseball bats held by former stars. Poole and his radio station cover Catawba College sports and American Legion baseball games.

The new Mrs. Buddy Poole works as human resources director for Otto Environmental Systems in Charlotte. It is the second marriage for both.
