Salisbury Police released video surveillance images of a man they say robbed a convenience store clerk at knifepoint.

One Aug. 15, a man went into the CITGO gas station at 939 West Jake Alexander Blvd., seemingly to buy a beer and pack of cigarettes. The robbery happened at 12:30 a.m.

The suspect — a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a skinny build and about 160 pounds — walked into the store, brought a can of Bud Ice to the counter and asked for a pack of Newport cigarettes.

The man, who was in his mid 30s to early 40s, was talking on his cell phone. He told the clerk he had to run outside to get his wallet. The clerk put the items back.

The robber returned a few minutes later and brought a beer back to the counter and again asked for cigarettes. He pulled out a steak knife and ordered the clerk to give him all the money in the cash register.

The robber took the money, beer and cigarettes and left. He was last seen running down Jake Alexander Boulevard toward Klumac Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 704-639-5245.
