Vigil for Erica Parsons rescheduled to Sept. 1

A group called Hope for Erica Parsons has rescheduled a planned candlelight vigil to Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Rowan County courthouse.

The vigil was to take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, but organizers said on the group’s Facebook page that they didn’t get a permit in time.

Erica Lynn Parsons hasn’t been seen in Rowan County since late 2011. She was reported missing by her adoptive brother July 30.

Her adoptive parents, Sandy and Casey Parsons, maintain Erica went to live with a biological grandmother in Asheville, but authorities haven’t been able to verify that story or that the woman they named, Irene “Nan” Goodman, exists.
