SALISBURY — The new superintendent for the Rowan-Salisbury School System will be introduced Tuesday, spokeswoman Rita Foil said in a press release this morning.

Pending action by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education at its regular meeting tonight, the announcement will be made during a press conference at 4 p.m. Tuesday. It will take place in the first floor lobby of the Gateway Building, located at 204 E. Innes St. in Salisbury.

At this special called press conference, Board of Education Chairman Dr. Richard Miller will officially provide opening comments followed by a few brief words from the newly named superintendent. Other school board members will be present to assist with the announcement.

An official reception is being planned later in October to allow the Rowan-Salisbury School System staff and Rowan County citizens the opportunity to personally meet the new leader.

Dr. Judy S. Grissom is the district’s current superintendent. Grissom announced her retirement last March to be effective Sept. 30 after serving for over 43 years in public education.
