KANNAPOLIS — A 20-year-old Kannapolis man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 58-year-old acquaintance.

Adam Shelby Fleming was taken into custody by authorities in Alabaster, Ala., the Kannapolis Police Department said.

The investigation began early on Aug. 17 when police were called to an apartment at 1100 S. Main St. where a man had been found dead. The victim was identified as Danny Ray Jordan.

Police identified Fleming as a suspect in the case, but he had left the area. Authorities issued a fugitive warrant, and Fleming was located in Alabama.

Fleming remains in the Shelby County, Ala., jail without bond awaiting extradition. He has not yet been formally charged in the homicide.

Police are continuing to investigate the case. Detectives are completing evidence collection and interviewing more witnesses.
