ENOCHVILLE — A N.C. Department of Revenue collector shuttered the doors of a beloved community store last week.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted a state agent in the asset seizure at Westside Store — which involved most of the store’s inventory — after authorities said the business had not paid state taxes in seven years, totaling $189,000 in delinquent taxes.

To avoid any potential confrontations, Capt. John Sifford said, officers were asked to assist in the revenue seizure.

Dallas Campbell, the building owner, was subleasing it to the business manager. Campbell said his lessor plans to bring in another tenant.
