ROCKWELL — A Rockwell man was charged after authorities say they found him with a marijuana cigarette, and asleep in a running car with a child in a car seat
Justin Michael Goodman, 19, of the 700 block of Saint Peters Church Road, was charged with two counts of resist, obstruct and delay an officer, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor child abuse.
Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies were at the 800 block of Geneva Road in Rockwell to serve an arrest warrant for Terry Wayne Goodman Jr., 41, who lived there. Authorities say Terry Goodman had warrants for his arrest for cocaine possession.
While at the Geneva Road home deputies saw a person behind the wheel asleep. The car’s engine was still running and the man, later identified as Justin Goodman, had a half-smoked marijuana cigarette on his lap and an infant in a car seat in the back.
A deputy asked Justin Goodman to follow him to the back of the vehicle and Goodman did not stop when the officer told him to stop. He had to be tackled to the ground, a report said.
Goodman remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $7,500 secured bond.
Terry Goodman was charged without any incident. He was placed in the county jail under a $1,000 secured bond and since been released.
